How to Download and Save E-mail attachments

Files can be sent and received as attachments (file attachments), together with an e-mail. Typical e-mail attachments are documents, archive files, photos, images, videos, music files or presentations. You can download file attachments individually or as a ZIP archive and save them locally on your computer or a storage medium.

InfoSecurity tip: Never open file attachments that you have received unsolicited! It is not enough to know the sender. The sender alone is no indication of the correctness of an e-mail. If you receive an unexpected e-mail with a file attachment, you should make sure in case of doubt that the message actually comes from the specified sender.

How do I recognize a file attachment in an e-mail?

You can tell whether an e-mail contains an attachment by the paper clip symbol, the file name and the file type, e.g. .odt, .docx, .txt, .jpg or .pdf.
