POP3

Post Office Protocol version 3 downloads your messages to your device. Perfect for single-device setups where you prefer to store everything locally.

IMAP ¹

Internet Message Access Protocol keeps all your folders and read/unread flags in sync across all devices in real time. Recommended for multi-device setups.

SMTP ²

Simple Mail Transfer Protocol handles outgoing mail. eclipso supports SMTP over SSL (port 465) and STARTTLS (port 587) for encrypted transmission.

Server settings for your email client

All settings apply to every eclipso address regardless of domain suffix.

New account? Before connecting your email client for the first time, you need to enable external access once in your eclipso Mail Europe account. Log in → Settings → POP3/IMAP/SMTP → [ Enable access for email clients ].

Tip: Disable email client access if you use eclipso exclusively via the webmail interface or our app. This additional step protects your account against unauthorized access.

With POP3, messages are typically downloaded and removed from the server. To keep copies on the server, enable the option "Leave a copy of messages on the server" in your email client settings.

SMTP authentication is required. Make sure to enable the option "Outgoing server requires authentication" in your email client. We recommend port 465 with SSL for maximum security.

We recommend IMAP for multi-device setups and POP3 if you prefer a local-only workflow. For sending, always use the SMTP settings above with SSL encryption enabled.
