eclipso Mail & Cloud takes the protection of your personal data very seriously. We adhere to the privacy laws of Germany and collect user data only insofar as it is necessary to comply with technical and legal requirements.
The following statement will give you an overview of how we ensure this protection. It will also explain what kind of data we do collect and for what purpose.
The Processing of Data on this Website
eclipso Mail & Cloud automatically stores on its server log files certain data that your browser transmits to us. It consists of the following:
* The type and version of the browser
* The operating software of the computer
* The referral URL (the website visited previously)
* The host name of the computer (its IP address)
* The time of the server request
eclipso Mail & Cloud will not be able to identify a unique user with this data, nor will we combine the data with that from other sources. After a period of time, during which we use it for statistical analysis, it will be deleted.
In several instances, our webpages use so-called 'cookies'. These help us make our product more user-friendly, more effective and more secure. Cookies are small text files that are sent to your computer and stored by your browser. Most of our cookies are so-called 'Session Cookies'. These are automatically deleted after you end your visit. Cookies do not damage your computer and do not contain any viruses.
eclipso is an ad-supported service. It may happen that our advertising partners store cookies on your computer to better target their advertising. If you do not want this to happen you can switch off the setting in your browser that lets it accept cookies.
De-Activating Cookies in Your Browser
Please note that if you do not accept cookies we cannot guarantee the complete functionality of our website.
Our products are largely free of charge. We finance them by appropriate advertising and by sending you newsletters. By registering you consent to us sending you such emails. Separating our free services from the sending out of the newsletter is not possible. If you do not want to receive our newsletters, we would recommend you either choose not to register with our site or upgrade to our advertising and newsletter-free premium package. Sending out our newsletter involves us using information from your registration, including your email address.
Use and Dissemination of Personal Data
Whatever personal data you give us we will only use for questions that you might send in, the fulfilment of any user agreement and for our technical administration of the site.
Your personal data will only be given to third parties when this is necessary for fulfilling any user agreement. This might include giving your address to postal services, banks or billing companies. Prerequisite is that you have given prior consent or that it is necessary for billing purposes. You have the right at any time to revoke the consent given for sharing your personal data as long as the matter for which this consent was given has not yet been concluded.
We will delete personal data of yours that we have stored when you revoke your consent for its storage, when your consent to the storage can no longer be assumed or when the storage of the data might in any way be illegal.
Our aim is to use every technological and administrative technique at our disposal to store your personal data in such a way that it is not accessible for third parties. However, we cannot completely guarantee the security of your data in the case of e-mail communication. We therefore recommend that you send confidential data by post.
Right to Information
As a registered user of our website you have the right to at any time ask for information regarding personal data of yours that we have stored, where it came from, who has had insight into it and for what purpose it was stored. You can find this information here.
We value your trust. That is why we are always available for questions and explanations regarding the handling of your personal data. Should you have any questions that this Data Protection Statement does not answer or should you at any point desire more in-depth information, please contact any of our data protection experts.
Regarding Our Web Analytics *
Our website uses a suite of web analytics software known as 'Piwik'. This software is hosted and run on our own servers. We do not share with any third parties any of the analytical data that we gather with Piwik. Piwik uses so-called 'cookies' - small text files - that are stored on your computer and that allow us to analyse the way visitors use our website.
If you do not agree with the storage and use of data gathered regarding your visit, you can stop any subsequent storage and use with just a single click of your mouse. In that case we store a so-called 'Opt-Out-Cookie' on your browser. This prevents Piwik from gathering any kind of visitor data. Be aware, though, that if you delete your cookies at any time, you will also delete your Opt-Out-Cookie and will therefore have to re-activate it.
Regarding the use of social media plugins
Facebook (Like button, login, App)
On our website we use social media plugins (known as 'plugins'). Some of these are from the social network 'Facebook', which is operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA. These plugins are marked with a Facebook logo. When you load a page on our website that contains such a plugin, your browser will establish a direct connection with a Facebook server. The content of these plugins is transferred directly to your browser by Facebook and then integrated into the webpage by your browser.
By using plugins Facebook can record that you visited our website. If you are logged into Facebook at the same time, that means that Facebook can track that visit back to your Facebook account. Should you interact with their plugins, for instance by clicking on the 'Like' button or by typing in a comment, then this information will be transmitted directly to Facebook and stored there. If you want to know for what purpose your data is stored, how much is taken or what is done with it afterwards, please consult Facebook's most current data protection statement. Their data protection statement can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/.
If you do not want Facebook to collect data about you through our website, please log out of your Facebook account.
Twitter (tweet, retweet, login, App)
Twitter and the 'retweet' function are products offered by Twitter, Inc., 795 Folsom St., Suite 600, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you make use of the 'retweet' functionality, information about the website that you submitted it from is made accessible to others and listed in your Twitter account. Should you become a 'follower' of the Twitter profile of a website, then you can be contacted through Twitter by that same website. In these cases, Twitter's data protection policy applies.
If you want to know how much data is gathered and for what purpose, as well as what is done with it after it has been gathered, please consult Twitter's data protection statements. They will also inform you of your rights in this matter and what you can do to protect your privacy. Further information can be found here: https://twitter.com/privacy.
The Google '+1' button
On our website we use the '+1' button from the social network Google+ (Google Plus). Google+ is owned and operated by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, California, 94043 USA (hereafter referred to as 'Google'). Every time a webpage of ours is called up that contains a '+1' button, this button causes your browser to load the look of that button from the Google servers. At the same time this informs the Google server which webpage on our website you are visiting. Google stores your browser history during the showing of the '+1' button for two weeks for troubleshooting and system maintenance purposes. Further information regarding your visit to any of our websites that might contain a '+1' button is not provided.
Should you click the '+1' button while you are logged in to Google+ (Google Plus), Google will receive through your account information about the URL that you recommended, your IP address and other browser-specific information. The purpose of this is to be able to store the '+1' recommendation and make it accessible to others. Your '+1' recommendation can be used together with your profile name and picture in Google services, such as search results or your Google Profile (under the '+1' tab in your Google profile). It can also be integrated with other websites.
Please click the following link to find Google's data protection statement regarding the '+1' button with more information concerning the retrieval, use and dissemination of data by Google: » https://www.google.com/intl/de/+/policy/+1button.html. Here you will also find out more about your rights in this matter as well as about how to change your profile settings.
